2nd Generation Avalon stereo unlock code help

Hi,

I've bought a 2000 Avalon XLS from the original owner. Now I'd like to make sure that I have that radio unlock code written down. There is a 5 digit code written on the front of the owner's manual in ballpoint pen. Is there a way I can attempt to reset the code, and in the process find out if that code is correct? (Doing this task without enable the lockout feature is the goal, of course.)

I'm hoping to try whatever I can (with the group's help), before I ask the dealer and/or previous owner. But, I see no information on this topic in the owner's manual... and its mentioned prominently in the repair manual. Thanks!

KG

If there is not a reset button then just unplug the battery from the car. It always reset everything to factory defaults.
