dude see if he will sell u the subs and the box together forget about the amp it sucks trust me and ask him if they are 2 ohm or 4ohm remember 2ohm is better but see if he can get u a deal but dont pay more than that auction u posted thats a good deal go witht the auction 1st if the price is right for u

2 ohm isnt better or worse than any other impedance

yup, I've been reading at caraudio forum and there's a lot of good companies that aren't well known of that make amps that are as good or even better than well known brands and cost a lot less. chances are you won't have to spend over $300 for a quality amp for your subs.

i paid way too much for my subs and amp ok first off my sub box was free from a friend thanx matt so that saved me $100

then i got 10% off from my buddy at the car audio place thanx tom but i still think i over paid

the car audio place is an authorized kicker dealer and installer but if i knew about ebay then i would have just bought all my stuff off there and had my friend install it but i was spur of the moment and i had to have the stuff immediately anyways to get to ur point

kicker kx600.1 class d amp $500 with discount

soo yeah i overpaid u can get 1 10" comp VR off ebay now for like $50 and the amp for like $225 soo yeah buy off ebay and have a professional install em its totally worth it

I wouldn't say that professional installation is worth it. If you know what you're doing, do it yourself. Sometimes people at bestbuy, circuit city and other places do weird things in installs. Also, you'll be more happy with your system and car if you do it yourself. If you do a little studying, you can build a box yourself, which is pretty easy as long as you can cut MDF and drill holes and use screws... not too hard, I could do all of that at about age 8. Building boxes aren't always the best solution though, as it will end up costing around $50, depending on size. Sometimes you can get them for cheap, and they're already carpeted and stuff, but for competition sound you pretty much have to build yourself.

I would definately suggest eBay for amps and decks and wiring kits but NOT subwoofers (make sure to buy from reputable dealers with thousands of positive comments). Depends on if you're overpowering the subs or not and how loud you like to listen to them. Subwoofers tend to break a lot easier than amps and decks. I'm not sure if it's worth buying boxes on eBay because of their large size, you pay out of the butt for shipping.
