yea thats kinda vague...

Is it gonna be a big system or a little one. Regardless the alternator is going to help the most, so if your not concerned about the cost, that is the best route even if it is a low power system.

I've considered switching out the alt as well. What's a good alt upgrade?

Umm...upgrading your alternator is a good "alt upgrade", lol - meaning either rewinding your current alt. (minimal increase), swapping the current one for a High Output (HO) one, or if you're feeling a little ballsy, adding an additional alternator(s).

Outside of that, upgrading wires would be beneficial if you haven't done so already. Battery upgrades are good if you're planning on running electronics for extended periods with the car turned off.

IMO it depends on how much power you will be running, what level you listen at and whether or not you want to be able to run the system for a long time with the engine off. Not meaning in any way to dis what you may have purchased (as I don't know what it is) however based on the amount spent I don't think you have a TON of power going in(?) Unless there is something wrong now with the battery or alternator, my suggestion would be to install your system properly, upgrade the big three and you may actually find you don't need either one.

Are you just wanting to spend money? Unless there is something wrong with the battery I wouldn't replace it just yet especially since you don't plan to run the system with the car off.

I don't think he meant how much money, but how much power. Its a small system, you shouldn't need anything additional, alt., batt. or cap. Worst case scenario, like Marv said, is do the big three and you'll be fine.
