Is it safe to tap into the HU wires for power?

Hello. I'm installing an add-on navigation system (KNA-g510) for my already installed kenwood HU. It needs a constant power source and ignition switched power source. I was wondering if I could splice into the HU wires for that. Each power source from the navigation system runs on 2 amps. Thanks for your help.

Your limiting factor would be current draw (amps). What size fuses do these two sources of power have? Doubt if the draw by the new device is high enough to cause an issue. You can check the rated power consumption of the devices (look on label or in owners book) and add them up. Compare to fuse size.

^Check my first post above. The wires run on 2 amps each. The HU runs on 15 amps. I just hooked them up and everything works fine (so far). Thanks. Any problems you think later?
