2nd Generation Gen 2 90 Camry - how to remove the plastic dash panel to get access to the head unit?

I followed the instructions on http://installdr.com/InstallDocs/Toyota/PDF/869021.pdf but it's not coming out from the bottom; I can only get the top part of the panel out. How did you guys do it?

You have to pull on it. Theres a few clips holding it to the dash.

that's what i dont get. it says pull from inside the ashtray, but there's nothing to grab a hold onto to pull. I can get the top part around the AC controls off easily, but the bottom is just confusing. and plus, I don't want to snap the thing in panel in half..

...i feel like an idiot in this thread.

I know inside the part where the ashtray is, it turns from the black plastic to metal. am i supposed to pull on the metal part to get the black frame out or do I just hold onto the small amount of the black frame which slides underneath the metal?

you don't need to get those out.. they just clip onto the car and you push on them to get it back after you're done

yeah but how do i get them out in the first place? i can't find a place to go grab to pull the bottom part of the frame out...i got the top part loose by prying the gap in the AC levers..

nvm....i found the hole that i'm supposed to pull on....all the way at the back of the ashtray.

i noticed there's a white tab/clip that's right in front of the hole. should I take that out before yanking the bezel off?
