i've got a stock 1990 car stereo and i want to change the rear speakers. the thing is, the nwe speakers are 8 ohm and the stock speakers were 4 ohm. would it be alright or would i overload the car stereo?

8 ohms is higher then 4 ohms, impedance wise.

It'll work, but the speakers will only get about 1/2 the power vs. 4 ohms.
