Your front component speakers are the most important part of the system. If you have not already bought the Rainbow's, DST's Peerless brand (made in Denmark) makes a superior 6.5" set with a cast frame for $170 at Madisound. Rainbow's high end line is incredible though with a price to match. I have not not heard many other sets coming close to these under the $400 level. You could also run a 4 channel amp, with the rear ch bridged. Remember that an inefficient sub with only 85 dB sensitivity will require much more power than one with 89 dB/1 watt meter @ 2.83v.
^^ haha I was looking at that guy as an option too. It looks rather sexy to me, and puts out just the kind of power I'm looking for but yes... the price is scaring me away too.
Considering I could probably find a used Memphis belle that has an 1100 watt @ 1ohm sub channel that seems very appealing for my one sub idea, for about 400. Plus I heard good things about it. Amps are always the most expensive part though.
I heard the crystal comps are pretty nice. Or you could look into the PRS Pioneer comps.
Or did you already buy these items? lol I couldnt really tell... regardless... That ed 5 would be pretty sweet if it wasnt so expensive.
I guess me and you are looking for the same basic setup tho from what it looks like. Other then the IB lol. I have no idea how that really works, I mean I understand the concept but I'm not about to just try it on a hunch hoping it works good haha. Anyways, I can't really think of anymore options as for amps. I guess it's just waiting it out and finding a good deal. I guess I could throw out the JL 500/5... lol if your looking at 600 dollar amps that is haha. OO or maybe Sundown, I dont know if they have a 5 channel or not though.
SL2's are a VERY competant front stage, Is this for the SC?
The only issue i would really have is if you plan on using the Ele amp. I prefer a MUCH lower THD on the front stage. .05%, though it is inaudible distortion for our ears, its still there and the voice coil and crossover still here it.
The JL, though it is a monster amp is at .03%, alot cleaner for a front stage.
My choice if i was rebuilding my system right now, for an affordable front stage amp would be the Zapco 350.2 or even the 200.2
We are talking THD's of .01% and lower. Insanly underrated amps for thier price.

Red phoenix...k2p ftw, lol. K2's are nice as well. Are you running any rear fill? What car is this going into...the sc? IF its for that car...i would run two amps, ONe 4 channel for the fronts(bi wired), and a sub amp. if space is a factor, iwould run a 5 channel for everything. IN all honesty i would say Focal ftw, just because my friends cousing is the international sales rep...so just trying throw some business his way.
It looks like you already know that the front component system is the most important part of your sound system that you can buy.
However, even more important than what you buy is how they are installed. A SOLID installation of your components will let their qualities shine through. Preaching to the choir, oh well.
