Making an IP-Bus

Hi I am making my own IP-bus for my pioneer HU so that I can hook up my iPod via 1/8 inch jack.

I have 4 wires coming from the bus, L+, L-, R+ and R-.

Now on my 1/8" jack the cable is comprised of two wires that are fused together. I pulled the wires apart and I stripped them and I am seeing one wire with a white core and some wire around it and other with a yellow core and some wire around it.

What is the configuration of these wires? I am guessing the cores are the L+ and R+.

But if this is correct, shouldnt there be a ground?

3rd Generation

Problem solved.

Instead of using a 1/8" plug i used two female RCA plugs.

In this case I attached the L+ to the white core of the RCA and the L- to the outer copper wire surrounding the core.

The same goes for the R+ and R- but for the red RCA.

Then I just plugged in a Y cable to the RCA's, enabled the AUX input on my pioneer receiver, plug the 1/8" into the iPod and voila, music.

because I knew I could make one on my own and avoid the hassle of shipping, waiting etc...

plus it only cost me a dollar, can't beat that.
