Clifford Matrix 10.5 Alarm

Hey guys,

I'm looking to upgrade my alarm system, I just dont think an alarm from "Carbine" is going to cut it for me. I've been looking at the Clifford Matrix 10.5 alarm, and was wondering if any of you guys had it. If you guys can give me some feedback on it, I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks!

This alarm is similar to the Viper 5000 or 5002 I think.
I don't have either the Clifford or Viper, but I've heard that the glass on the remotes can be damaged if you drop it somehow. They are quite expensive to replace also. This is what an installer told me. I do not have first hand experience with this though.

Battery life on 2-way remotes aren't that great either. They use AAA alkaline and the batteries last about 6 weeks or so. The radio on the remotes are constantly on listening for the car, so that wears the batteries out. I will however say that the 2 way remotes are quite cool if you are out of visible or audible range of the car. If you are within radio range of the car, the remote will confirm commands or warn you of something happening to it.

The range is supposedly 1/4 mile but expect this distance to be drastically less depending on your surroundings and especially if you are indoors. I have never tested the 1/4 mile range out doors though, but I know that their 2 ways will works from at least 300 ft with a clear line of sight. This is much further than Toyota's keyless systems.

I know is an old thread. I have a "Carbine" alarm in one of my vehicles and it has been a good alarm.
