just wanted to know what kind (size) and brand of speakers people r using for their front stage. also, how much power r u feeding them. just need some ideas. thnx!
I have a set of Infinity Reference 5010cs components in the front with 5.25" woofers. The sound out of them is excellent, even at very high volumes. Sometimes the tweeters sound a little off, but only with certain songs (on say 3 out of a CD of 120 songs), but ive never been able to tell whether its the tweeters themselves, or just a botched MP3 file, since it is only with certain songs. Otherwise they are crystal clear...i actually had to hook them to the -3dB output of the crossover because they were too powerful.
I am powering them with an Infinity 7541a amp, which is 111 watts continuous per channel, and the gain is set a little below halfway.
I'd have no problem recommending these speakers, especially since they can be had for under $100 on ebay, but of course the 5012cs speakers with 6.5" woofers would be much better...I just cant fit them in my doors.

hey bud, do u find the bass response for your 5.25"s better than the lousy stock 6X9?
My car actually had 4" speakers in the front...so anything is an improvement really. Aftermarket speakers typically wont have the bass response of factory speakers. They are stiffer so that they can handle an actual decent amount of power, while the factory speakers tend to move very loosely, so that they can appear to have a lot of bass while using the factory (read: crappy) amplifier. If you had the 6.5" speakers with enough power going to them, they probably would have more bass response, but would be using much more power in the process.
