Over heating deck?

Just got a blaupunkt miami beach cd51 deck and intstalled it myself. Everything works fine it just gets super hot. not the faceplate so much but on the back of it and the whole unit itself.

so hot that you'll burn yourself if you keep your hand on it too long.

any ideas what would cause this. say I reversed the + and - wires on one of my speakers, would that cause it?

thanx.

no that wouldnt cause it, your speakers would just be out of phase and you would barely get any output from them. if your deck doesnt give you problems i wouldnt worry about it. mine gets hot all the time.

Well, it's not overheating if nothing goes wrong. My old Kenwood deck used to overheat, and when that happened the sound would distort a lot and the subs would be real quiet... My clarion overheats on occasion too. Same thing pretty much but it takes more heat to overheat. For the Kenwood, it was the face plate, which could be taken out and placed in front of the AC to cool it off. On the clarion it's the deck itself though so you just gotta wait for it to cool.

turns out my base output was on max, so the amp was the cause of the heat, now its back to just getting warm.

edit: nope, superhot is right

Yea..a lot of decks these days get super hot because of the power they create. My alpine get really really hot! Espically since it has one of those internal amps that require extra power. Its a pretty common thing. So don't worry about it! :p

Hehe, I'm not even using the internal amp on my pioneer got separate amps for all the speakers (except the rear ones, but those are on a very low setting, just to keep the rear "filled")
