Dual to Single din help

Okay...I went out and purchased a 82-up(I believe, well 80 something and up) Toyota wiring harness...splice it in the wires from my Kenwood HU and I think I'm about to be hearing some tunage....wrong. I take out my stock HU and see only a single plug that was plugged into the factory wiring harness...another plug goes from the bottom(female end) of the radio to the top cd player part(male end). The harness I bought has one fairly large plug and a smaller one. Did I buy the wrong harness?

there should be 2 groups of wire going into your stock radio, one small and one bigger. the toyota harness should have the same thing so it could plug into it. your kenwood harness should just be one single plug. your saying your factory harness only has one group of wires to it?

If the plugs in the back of your stock radio do not look like this (http://www.mattgilbert.net/carstereo...t/photos/7.jpg)
then you have a stock amp. To by pass the amp you must plug the wire harness from your HU in to a different set of wireharnesses in your car. It should look something like this:http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v4.../bypasspic.jpg
you will need to inplug the wies located in the back on the top, right side. and then plug the wires from your head unit into the two wire harnesses.

What car do you drive? What model level?

You may have to do like mayfew is talking about.

Here is the thread that pic came from for more info about bypassing the stock external amplifier should you have this.

I drive a 1998 Camry LE. Thanks for clearing this up, guys. I didn't think I had a stock amp, but I guess I do. When I removed my old head unit I saw those two plugs and I wondered if that was what they were for. Okay, I'm pretty sure I have this figured out now, but if not then be prepared for more questions! Thanks to everyone for helping.
