Hello I have a 98 camry le v6 with tint. I would like to add subwoofers. Is this hard to do myself? Does anybody know of a kit that comes with everything you need? I dont want anything insane but I want a little power. I want to keep costs as low as possible. Thanks.
I would like to spend as little as possible. I think I would want a single. I want sumthing to give me a little thump but not crazy where it shakes my whole back end. What is a hu?
I saw this on ebay. It comes with everything you need. I dont know as far as watts what is good so it this one pretty crappy. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...DME:B:AAQ:US:1
Is it a waste of money. I dont want to spend more than $200
personally, I would wait and save a bit more for your stuff, it would be better in the long run.
You can get a pretty decent 12" sub for about 150. Then expect like 150-200 for an amp. Wiring about 40-60. And then a box which is 100-150 in my experience.
Altogether that is about 400-600. You can buy a cheaper "deal" sub but of course you will sacrifice some quality for that.
btw HU is headunit, the thing you control the radio and volume on
Yea... you either need an aftermarket headunit or a rca input deal to go on your stock radio, which btw.. i dont even know to to put on..
Although, I do know it's not that difficult. Xet pretty much hit the head of the nail.
You will NOT... I repeat.. WILL NOT, be happy with that vizonik... whatever the hell brand shit. You get what you pay more.
You can easily put together something with used equipment if you know what your looking for. Seeing's how your not really looking for anything to bangin, you can easily pick up a 12" sub.. a cheap sealed box.. and a decent powered amp for pretty cheap. Also amp kits are more expensive then just buying your own amount of wire.
Id look for a used Alpine type R, or maybe an Infinity for a sub. Then just a decent 300-500 watt mono or 2 channel to power it.
I'm just gonna tell you right now though, you arent going to put together your system for $200... that practically impossible, unless you get the stuff given to you.
cam1101, are you willing to build a subwoofer box yourself? That would save you a little bit, possibly.
I am hesitant on buying used speakers. Who knows how beat they got with the previous owner. The only used ones I bought were some 10" Lanzar subs. I knew the previous owner pounded them, but they were only for an experiment in a clamshell isobaric setup, and really really cheap.
Used amps might be okay. Off Craigslist, I picked up a Rockford Fosgate 401SP for $50. Mint condition. Even came with the wiring for installation that the guy pulled out of his car. Unfortunately, I wired it incorrectly, and baked it to death. It's replacement is an Alpine MRP-T220 I got from Best Buy for $59 Open Box special. It was their floor model. It was hooked up to power on, but speakers were never hooked up to it I figure I can eBay it and not lose anything it if I run across something else I want.
not really... the newer models are rated 500 watts rms, the older ones are rated less than that. Sure they can take a decent amount above that but there is no real need to go that much higher unless you need it extremely loud. But the fact is it isn't uinderpowered at all, they can just handle more
I'm just gonna tell you right now though, you arent going to put together your system for $200... that practically impossible, unless you get the stuff given to you.
Always the thought that he could go and rob a car audio store
thats true....the amp kit itself cost 100 bucks.....i spent about 200 for my two 12 and that comes with an amp....(which is too weak for the subs)....so total 300 something....so yea wait and save up...
hey corollacrazy, why would you get a type r and then only get an amp 500 - 600? you are SO underpowering it.
Well in my honest opinion I usually would never recommend a Type R because I just dont like the way they sound much. They are too boomy and never really struck me as a clarity sub. But for a budget system its a good cheap sub you can get easily from about anywhere.
The reason I stated 500-600 was because... yes it is basically rated for that and I know full well that this sub is capable of much more power if you really want it to wang, but were talking budget here.. once you start going into the 1000 watt amps it gets a bit expensive for quality, not to mention hard on an electrical system. Not to say it isn't possible, but it just doesn't seem practical for this guy.
Not to mention my friend has a single typr 10" with about 300 watts and it sounds just fine in a tiny ass sealed box. Not gonna say it sound spectacular, but it gets the job done for him quite well.
