AMP settings question.

On my amp (Alpine MRP-F450) there are High Pass and Low Pass filters and an OFF position.

Are coaxial speakers considered "full Range" speakers?? if so it says to set the switches to the off position.

Also if the switches are "off" does that render the crossover freq adj "off" too?

You don't want your coaxials getting frequencies below 60 to 80 hz. So turn the HPF on(High Pass Filter-It lets the highs pass through the filter and blocks out the lows)

Sometimes amps will have what's called a 10X multiplier. If you do have that, turn it off and then set the dial to 60 or 80 hz.

Make sure your gains aren't too high, put the gain at it's lowest setting, then turn up the volume on the headunit about 90-95 percent full volume. From there(with the HPF on and adjusted) slowly raise the gain until you think you hear distortion, when you do hear distortion back off the gain a little.

So I'm going to go out on a limb here and say that a low pass filter would be if you had the amp hooked up to a sub?

Correct.

Also if you are using an Active Electronic crossover you would send a low pass filtered signal to your mids too, but in the case of using coaxials, or a regular component set the supplied passive crossover unit will handle that.
