Unhappy Why is '98 Sienna Audio wiring different?????

I just bought a '98 Sienna and I want to replace the Delco cassette player/ CD control unit with a JVC cd/mp3/wav player. I bought a wiring harness for the '98 Sienna, but it doesn't fit the connector and the wire colors don't match the chart posted in this forum..... ANY HELP WOULD BE APPRECIATED!!!!

Yeah, that doesn't look right. The Toyota harness has 6 wires across on the bottom of the plub and 2 to each next to the clip. Then there is another harness for the back speakers.

Can you take some larger photos of the stereo, the plugs on the back of the stereo, and the wiring harness coming out of the car? I'm guessing that the stereo doesn't say JBL anywhere.

I ogtta say I'm stumped.

If you have a multimeter, and you are familiar with it, and a 1.5V battery, you can find out what all the wires do. But you have to be able to see the movement of the speakers, so it's best to have someone help out.

When the (-) terminal on a battery is connected to the (-) terminal on the speaker, adn the (+) terminal on the battery is connected to the (+) terminal on the speaker, the cone will move outwards. If you reverse it, the cone will move inwards. When you connect the speaker to the battery, regardless of polarity, the speaker will make some scratchy sounds.

Right now this is all I can think of because all the Toyotas I've messed with have had the same connector.

Does that mean the van has an amp somewhere? If yes that amp would need to be removed or bypassed.

no it's not an amped setup, it's just a premium setup that was available from 1990 - 1999
