where is the best spot to run a power cable through the firewall of a 1995 camry LE?
or would anyone recommend running it under the car into the trunk?
Mmm... Probably (I have found) running your power cable down the left side (passenger side if your in one of those backward countries ) and run your RCA/other cables down the right seems to work a treat. Saying that, it is usually best to run the power cable through the side with the battery, to reduce cabling. Doesn't matter which hole you use, as long as it has some sort of grommit on it to stop the wire chafing, and ultimately shorting.
thanks for the reply!
I was under the hood last night and I found at least one spot in the firewall where a cluster of wires passes through. Its right behind the glove box, which unfortunately is on the opposite side of the battery, but its no big deal, I'll just need a couple of extra feet of power cable. I will probably do the install next weekend, and post pics when I'm done.
I ran my 0 guage (Really THICK WIRE) down the driver side, if you take off the wheel and the mud cover, there is a HUGE passthrough spot that leads right in under the dash..

That sounds like alot of effort, just to run a power cable...
Easier than drilling a hole, and it actualy is really simple. Just jack up the driver side. Take the front wheel off. Unscrew the mudcover (philips head screws) and that's it!

I got my wires running on the right side. It was hell but I managed. The only problem I have now the power wire is exposed on the rear passenger side and I can't force it down what should I do?

Force it down :P
Nah umm, when you say you can't force it down do you mean as in you can't get it under the carpet? If so, I don't know if yours is like mine, but there was a black box running along the side that was clipped in with a heap of cables, you can try getting it under that. Other then that, use a bit of brute force on the carpet :P
I'm in the process of installing my own sub/amp in my 98 camry atm. I just ran my power today, I ran it down the left side and went through the steering wheel grommet type thing, I believe it is completely clear of steering, brakes, gas, etc. So hopefully there will be no problems there

I tried getting it under the carpet but I can't get that clamp down it keeps popping up evertime I open the door so now I just leave it exposed

i drilled a hole in my firewall that turned out to be about 4inches outside of my booster. Its on the drivers side of the booster, there were no wires under the dash in that area and under the hood it doesnt really stick out. I ran in from my fuse and kinda sat it under the filterbox and routed it under a few lines then right into the hole. Its 4ga btw
just drill a hole on the right side of the firewall (driver side) about 8 inches from the start of where the hood shuts there are no wires plastic or anything on the other side and it comes out right behind your capet right next to the vrake and then you can run it right back to your amp. I have mine there and its definitely very clean and in a great location
Just be sure with drilling all these holes that you A) check both sides to make sure you don't drill into something, and B) use a grommet or some sort of covering around the metal so that it doesn't cut into your power wire and ground it out (big firehazrd that is often overlooked)
