Question Sattelite Radio Install Question

I need to install my SkyFi - I think its the first one they came out with ( silver with orange screen) into my 07 Tacoma. Had it in my 02 tacoma with a Fm Modulator. The question I have is :

I dont want to use the cig lighter adapter to get power. Dont like the wires. Can I use the old FM modulator and use it only for the power source? I have a DF-TOY which i have hooked up with the Non JBL 6 disc. Everything works great. .

If not, is there anything out there that could help me bypass the issue? Does someone make an inline converter??? to step it from 12V to 6V?

I do these installs all day, And we open up the cig coverter and solder the a new power wire w/ fuse, and ground wire inside, then close, seal with electrical tape, and use the added wire to hook the the cig lighter. Been doing this for.... Too long, never had one come back b/c of problems.

Hope this helps. Good Luck.

I have a Skyfi2 in my 05 tacoma and I just spliced in an extra cig plug behind the dash and plugged it in. That way I did not have to cut the xm wiring. It's all out of site and pretty basic. I just used inlince splices, but soldering would be better like dj said. I have been running mine like this for over two years and have not had any problems.
