alright I had this setup till now: 4x6x9's alpines powered by infinity ref. 4chan amp bit overpowered so turned it down a lil but umm needed more base so just got a decent deal on avolfenhad zx-8300 4ch amp 1200w peak 2x300rms briged at 4ohms now I'm kind of lost at what to get next my first pair of subs so want to do as best I can been reading here and crutchfield
so first question what should I get for 12'' subs, not sure if I should aim for exact 300rms for each sub for it to sound best at 4ohm or I should get something lower and just turn the gain down on the amp not sure what will produce more bang for the buck, trying to stay around or under 200 with box if possible with decent quality
I was looking at MTX,kicker,MB Quart DWH302 any recommendations?
box wise thing i'm going with sealed box because from what I read they need less space and are more responsive because of the air inside and bass might be a little deeper with the whole box resonating but still not sure sealed or ported for sure since ported adds some more volume
also had a question wiring wise just because there's getting to be loads of wires I got 2 rca cables running from the headunit already for front/rear i'm guessing i'll need a 3rd one and upgrade my power to 4 ,2 ,or 0AWG for sufficient power? wondering if 80A fusses I got on the line will be enough? and will I have to run a distributor block in the backto split between the two amps, also would a capacitor do anything if I have equal RMS subs and amp or is that more for high W subs?
thx to anyone who finished reading this, and thx for any input! had many questions been looking into this for a week or so
well an update o nthat, just found a good deal on some polk audio subs 360rms, 720peak for 113 total, looked around a bit and all the ratings seems for the price that was a good steal...time to start looking at ported and sealed boxes and a lot of wires,
anyone any ideas with power wire type or capacitor idea yet? plz let me know
I'd go with Knu too for wiring... but then any wire will work if you can find it for cheap.
Also when it comes to good enclosure you pretty much either have to make it yourself... or get one built. If you find a reputable place they don't really rape you for cost because MDF isnt really that expensive.
Anyways... I take it the subs are 2 12" correct? Regardless, you were right about sealed boxes having better response but on the same topic.. ported fanatics will tell you, you can achieve the same response as a sealed box... if properly tuned to the specific sub.
I would highly suggest sealed, as ported takes quite a bit of calculating to get right.
For wiring 4ga should be plenty... you dont need 1/0 ga by any means... you could even be good with 8ga most likely. Also You need to find out what your amp puts out for amps at max draw. That way if the system has a power surge the fuse will snap. Although 80 amps should do you fine for most amps.
ya, I actually found a place in the next state online that seem to be going it for awhile, gave me a price of $93 for the box itself without shipping by dimmensions I wanted, I want to push it up right against the seats so I'll have to slan the subs 67% or so to get that height, but the guy seems to know what he's doing, if he rips me off hell he lives 40 mins away hehe
about the power wire, thing is it's my second amp on that line, I got an infinity powering all speakers already 460RMS (never use that much) but still I have it on a 80 fuse near the battery now, but I ended up buying 1/0 actually thinking incase I upgrade in teh future or add a 15'' for some ridiculous reason
also got a distributor block to hook up at the back, will run the whole thing on 150A fuse near the battery then two 80's in the distributor, both amps have 2x30A fuses so it should be close I'm guesing, I might need to change the ones in the distributor to 60A just to be safe will see how it goes
Personally I think you would be fine with a fuseless distributor... You don't really need to have 3 different ways to blow fuses to protect your things. Once one pops it cuts the circuit off anyways.
Also 1/0 is fine, it will actually receive less resistance. Good thinking on the unpgrade side of things too.

Speaking of them I have (1) 5-meter long RCA-shielded (Klarity Kablecables) with a wire (inside) you can use for remote turn on... NEVER USED, in the package...ALSO 20ft of their 12ga speaker wire-NEVER USED
I will do for 10.00 plus shipping...if any one cares...just pm me.
Thanks.
