If your using a lower power output (factory headunit or aftermarket with no amp) you don't really need to replace the speaker wire unless it's really messed up. Once you go with bigger amps and you are pushing more power, the thin wire used just doesn't really cut it.

for this moment, im just want to replace the factory speakers on there to get a more clear sound...replacing them with 500w speakers. I got a JVC MP3/WMA PLAYER and no amp...but its pretty loud and it sounds distoreded (spell check) when there is alot of bass in a song...- am planning on geting amps and a subwofer but for now im just getting the front and rear speakers, so will i have to change the wiring? I dont think my current wiring harness are messed up. But if i do have to change the wiring, is it going to have to go through the whole car or just the couple of inches/feet that are going to go to the new speakers?
