polyfill in vented box

i've read everywhere that a sealed box built to slightly smaller specs can benefit from a little polyfill stuffing. supposedly to dampen standing waves inside the box.

i was wondering if it can help the sound of vented boxes as well?

um it can help, but the problem is keeping it in. The natural tendancy would be for it to shoot right out the port, so you would need to mold some sort of a screen into the port to keep it in. in general, the benifit for ported boxes is minimal at best. Your better off getting a perfectly molded port with rounded edges, that will cut down on "port noise".

^ You could glue the polyfill to the walls of the box.

As for the port, I like using a router with a round over bit. Turn the router upside down and spin the pipe around the bit.
