Adding 5th speaker to Deck

I have a spare 6X9 speaker and I was wondering if I can add it to my car stereo deck which already has 4 speakers connected. Will it do any damage if I do this?

You could if you hook it up to an amp! But what use would it be! Unless your deck has center channel capability, it will do damage!

Is there a reason why you want to do this? Cause if it's just for extra sound, you're probably doing more damage than good..

It's not worth trying. Your deck only has 4 channels so you would need an amp for your 5th speaker and you would not notice much of a difference. The only time adding speakers might be worth it: If you have an amp powering all your quality aftermarket speakers (so 4 channel, but 5 channel for the last speaker) and installed all the other stuff in your car yourself so you know what you're doing. Otherwise you waste a ton of time and some money on adding something essentially useless. You may want to add a sub though. If you're stock speakers can play highs and mids well enough, you can just have a sub or two provide the lows which will make a pretty decent sound setting for not too high of a price.
