got my speaker baffles from marv!

ok i finally got my speaker baffles from mr. marv after a while(not his fault). here they are..

question now, should i try and prop the tweeters so they are at an angle towards me when i install?(hopefully tmrw)
also, whats the best method of drilling holes for the speaker screws to the baffle?

where are you going to place those baffles? tweeters are better placed on the dash of on the pillars.

front doors.. why would i put a component set in the rear deck :-P

i know dash or a pillars is better but i didnt want to cut up the interior and this was the best route to keep the interior stock.

I have components on my rear deck..

why not use double sided tape then place it on the side mirror part or dashboard.? It would really sound better.

to answer your question, it would be better is you angle it upwards towards your ears.

lol you mean permanently use double sided tape to mount them to the dash or door??
in my previous car, i had cut holes and mounted my tweeters in my a pillars. i found there was way too much separation going on.

yeah. experiment with the placing of your tweeter. look for the best place that would satisfy your ears.

placing your component's tweeter beside the midrange would void the real purpose of components, it would only sound like a coaxial. the purpose of components is to separate the highs and the mids.

Gen5

i bought similar MDF baffles from tacotunes.com. 3/4" MDF. but the corner edges (where the screws go) were too thick, i culdn't put the door panels back.

jus wondering if u are encountering the same problem.

actually placing the tweeter close to the midrange is optimal due to separation. either way, i had the baffles made to house the tweeter also so i will see how it comes out.

fredberg, im gonna install today so ill get back to you.

ok so i installed yesterday but silly me thought that CC would have my dash kit in stock but they didnt.. so i ended up just running my power and remote wires, wires for my HU brain underneath the pass. seat, and RCA's for components and sub. here are they few pics i took..

this is the location where i snaked the power wire through. its up and to the right of the brake pedal from the inside.

ran power wire along drivers side

removed HU trim, etc.

ran HU wires to brain along with other misc wiring i needed to run for the brain behind the glove compartment

this is how i left my wiring right now b/c i didnt wanna leave my amps by themselves in the trunk and im waiting on the dash kit and speaker wire

and this is the baffles mounted.. i know i still need to lay down my sound dampening, i have it in my garage but im gonna wait until i run my speaker wire.

so thats it so far.. hopefully i will be getting my speaker wire and dash kit by the end of the week so i can finish up my install on saturday.. feedback welcome!

looks good so far. how will you run the wires behind the baffle? drill a hole and grommet?

That is so far from the truth. component sets like that are meant to work together. The tweeters should either be 0-10 inches away or 24-30 inches away, with 0-10 being optimal.

When I mounted some tweeters in my modified Paseo door speaker mounts, I used some PVC endcaps to hold some Infinity Kappa tweeters. I can aim mine, so something to hold them was fine. Maybe you can utilize something along those lines...

I ended up mounting my tweeters in the stock location for the dash speakers. There is a little sound separation but not really bad. I wanted my sound stage to be up high. There was no flat surface to mount my tweets to in the door so the dash seemed like the best location. The tweets are angleable but firing toward the windshields either way. This isn't exactly what I had in mind but I think it turned out well. I might post pictures later on to see what people think of how I installed them.

Edit: Where did you mount your crossovers? Mine are just sitting behind my kick panels.
