For the first time Saturday I noticed the sound from my sub cut off then came back on. Then a few seconds later all sound cut off, then came back on. It did this on and off for as long as I drove the car. It seemed to be fine all day Sunday and Monday.
Today it did the same thing. Then the sound cut off for about ten minutes and then came on and then you guessed, stopped working. The whole time my cd player has power and the EQ on it seems to be working so I know it's getting a signal.
Then the led light on the amp blinked a few times and digital volt meter on the amp stopped working completely as well as the led. I checked my other amp running my interior speakers and it doesn't seem to be getting power either hence my interior speakers not working too. My Alpine amp has a 60A fuse and I figured I'd start with replacing that cause I don't have time right now to check ground, remote and power wire connections. I went to autozone and they didn't have what I needed. Any ideas what could be wrong? Could the other amp not work due to how there both wired?
how are they wired? through a power dist. block? if so, i would check the connectivity and fuses of the dist block. it really sounds like a loose wire with it coming in and out like that.
If it's comming back on and off while your driving, it's most likely a loose connection, if both are going on and off at the same time, then it is definatly a loose connection wherever they are together (probably main power wire). I would check the grounds and the pwoer wire and where your wires split, something is probably loose.

I honestly don't know. Everything was installed professionally about 5 years ago when I lived in NY. I see no signs of a distrib block but there is a Phoenix Gold circuit breaker in my engine bay, but it wasn't tripped.

Ok, 1st i'll try and get another fuse for my mono amp because I'm not Adam, i'm not gonna rip my car apart if I don't need to. I've checked periodically since 5pm today and the amps have NO power whatsoever but the fuse doesn't seem to be blown

Well, if you have a multimeter, put it on VDC, put the positive on positive amp terminal and the ground on ground amp terminal, and see if you get 12V.

yea a DMM may be the best bet.
It may be your not getting enough power so that could explain why its coming on and off.
but yea connection check and ground check.
how old is the battery?

When I started the car this morning the led light on the amp came on then shut right off. About a minute later my highs (not sub) played for a few seconds and thats all she wrote. I called a few stereo shops to see if they sell fuses because I can't seem to find the correct one in autozone, walmart etc.
One shop told me that circuit breakers often go bad so it could be that. I'm going to a place after work today and i'll see what they tell me. Thanks so far everyone.

^I know. They didn't charge me anything today though. He proved the fuse to be good and my interior amp is getting power. It's just my subwoofer amp thats not getting power. He feels it's the remote wire. I'm bringing it on saturday so he can spend some time figuring out what's wrong. I just don't have the patience to do so myself.

How is ur amp connected to ur sub? I had a hell of time trying to find out why mine didnt work until I took the sub out and noticed one of the quick disconnect clamps kept falling off -_-
Whenever this happened were you playing it really loud? I have ran out of juice and had my unit and amps shut off because of lack of power... and then come right back on. I was ingnorant of what i was doing on sound systems at the time, but i was running a 0 gauge power wire and a 4 gauge ground... let along no extra batt with 1500 watts of juice. So the might be shutting off due to lack of power. That just one thing it "might be"
lol thats the only way i know how to bump to man. Have you checked to see if your alt is bad. Do you have a extra batt. ? or a cap? You had to have shaken something loose, and you were probably having power loss as well. When my car hit below 10 volts everything shut down even my other electronics lol
