USA how many amps do I need

I just replaced my factory speakers. I put polks 6x9's in the front doors and polk 6.5 in the back doors. I'm thinking about putting a subwoofer in also. Is it worth it to put a amp on the door speakers or just have a amp on the sub?

1.

Just buy a 5-channel amp, find one that suits your speakers and subwoofers RMS ratings

if you do one please make sure the RMS is above total for all of the speakers RMS + the subs cause it will keep overheating and shutting off on you if you crank it up, way I have mine done is 2 amps one for subs one for speakers but I need to get a more powerful amp for the subs =/ but you can do it with one just make sure it's good, check the brand list which are recommended are not it was floating around somewhere it's helpful if you plan to shop around online
good luck

Underpowering does not always lead to overheating and shutting off...

Right, it's a clipping and sending a distorted signal that usually causes speakers to blowout.

Also:
-Quality of installation
-Quality and condition of components

Also, running the amp at too low of ohm loads will make them get hot or shut down. Choosing proper ohm loads confuses some people, especially when wiring subwoofers.

^ Agreed

But it would be benefical for you to amp both sets of speakers (if you want the best sound you can get out of them)

Some would disagree with that. The rear speakers are normally running at such a low volume you may not even notice its there....which is the point. I would say its up to your budget. If you've got the funds to amp the rear go for it, but it isn't necessary.

You mistook what I wrote... I dont recommend amping back speakers whatsoever. I's say to take them out because they are worthless and throw of your sound stage with your subwoofers.

No one would disagree with amping aftermarket speakers... especially if you dont have comps. That would just be retarded to leave them unpowered...

Just buy a 4 channel and run each speaker off a channel then do whatever you want for the other amp.

http://cgi.ebay.com/Blaupunkt-VA4100...QQcmdZViewItem

I recommend this 4-channel as it is fairly cheap and puts out some good power. It has also been reviewed by many people as a great amp.

I have one atm and its amazingly powerful.

I was talking about the amp just overheating cause it's running a high load al the time, and so far my speakers and subs are all fine running at 80% or so for the subs and 30-40% for the speakers
