My old Panasonic POS deck decided to go whacko today and im pretty sure its done anyways im in the market for a new deck, looking for some thing with the following features:
- Aux input
- can have IPOD control don't really care

what do people think of the new alpine stuff specifically the CDA-9885 , CDA-9883 ?????????
Not very good choices in terms of features for the price, the CDA-9835 was their last good headunit IMO. I would get the Pioneer DEH-P880PRS that was mentioned a few posts back.
I'd go with Pioneer DEH-P8080PRS... I personally don't have it but I seen it install in another Camry with the same speakers I have, and it sounds great compared to what I have. I mean mine sounds good in all, but I have my work cut out for me. I have a DEH-P7800MP.

Hey! It ain't much to beat the block down, but it'll work for now...

I Have the CDA-9885 and I really like it. The ipod controls are pretty nice but could be a little better. Sound quality is awesome. I highly recommend the unit from my experience.
persoanlly I went with P590IB because it was cheap compared to the rest but also have the subs hooked up to an amp and 4 of the other speakers to another one, it sounds awesome from what i've heard in other cars etc dunno if the higher end ones make much of a difference i'm surely not complaining about mine but if you have the money go for a better one, checked out 8080 looks really good, functionality wise dont know if it's much better and worth the extra $100 or more, better get an amp for the rest of the speakers or new speakers will make a bigger diff
my .2
^too bad you cant use bluetooth, usb, or mp3 players with that model...
790BT ftw, after that, your just paying for a color display (that still cant do bluetooth) and "better" sound quality
get it if your an extreme audiophile i guess
thats what a carPC is for ; )
Def check out pioneer. Awesome units.

I run a kenwood x990 i but i have had bad luck with the pioneer before...even the premier. They would always make a noise threw the rca jacks to my subs... it would bump my subs if i would change the song. Like a sudden small boom everytime i would change the song even if the volume on the headunit was turned all the way down. Thats why i went kenwood, but alpine, eclipse, and kenwood is what i would suggest as far as having a good h/u
I am not telling you to get it.... however it is in your price range. It also has all the jacks that you need besides the ipod adapter however i seen a adapter for it as well. Which is the second link.
personally I dont like kenwood hu's and toyota_b it sounds like u just had a lemon a few of my friends have pioneers and premieres and they all sound awesome and had no such prob. Im not trying to bash on you though
Nah im not saying there bad and i know your not trying to bash... i have had 3 of them and always seemed to get the short stick. But i have have not had any problems with kenwoods. I love the one i got!
