wiring speakers

I bought some new speakers for a 2007 tacoma. They are infinity reference 6x9s, After wiring them in the front door they sounded very weak compared to the stock speakers, When I tried disconnecting the stock tweeter the speaker went out. I then tried disconnecting the stock tweeter and jumpering the wires and still nothing. Keep in mind the rear speakers are still stock. Do I need to wire all the speakers in series before they work or is there something that I am missing.

Did you watch the wire's polarity? The positive and negative need to be properly connected. Having speakers out of phase will kill your bass.

Do you have the upgraded (dealer option) JBL system in your truck? If so then your Infinity speakers sounded weak because the factory JBL amp runs at 1ohm-stereo or 2ohm-stereo. The speakers you installed were probably 4ohm (most common) and they were only getting 1/2 or even 1/4 the power your factory speakers were getting.

Without a DMM I wouldn't know what ohm load your factory JBL system runs at, but if you are lucky enough to find out it is a 2ohm setup go get you the Infinity Kappa, or look into Image Dynamics. Both offer 2ohm versions of their current speaker lineup.

If you don't have the factory JBL setup then ignore everything I just said.
