3rd Generation Do I need a cap for what I have?

I have a JL Audio E1800D Amp and Pioneer Premier TS-W126C/DVC Dual Subs do I really need a capacitor for what I have? Some say it help keeps the headlights from dimming, but after reading some reviews it actually sounds like a bad idea. If it helps save my alternator then I'm all for it!!

Oh Yeah I forgot The Amp
(14.5v) 1000x1 2ohm --- (12.5v) 800x1 2ohm
(14.5v) 640x1 4ohm --- (12.5v) 480x1 4ohm

The
(2) Subs
400 watts rms

Hey! It ain't much to beat the block down, but it'll work for now...

no you dont.. because its been said time and time again... They dont do anything to benefit you.

Save the money you would be spending on a worthless cap and do either the big 3 wiring upg. or a high output alternator.

Do some research online. It's probably the easiest electrical mod you will ever do in your life.

All you do is get wire.. Run new power wire off of your alternator.. Run new wire for a ground on your engine.. and run a new wire for the batteries ground wire.

It doesn't even look like you have enough of a current draw to have any problems.

I found this "http://www.the12volt.com/installbay/...TID=73496&PN=1" on the net!!! It looks easy but I guess I'll wait it out in fall when its cooler. Right now its just too damn hot outside and I don't have a garage or no shade!!! BTW is all this information correct? I don't want to miss anything...

I haven't got my HOA back yet can I still do the factory Alt?

If you go with a bigger gauge you can get rid of the older wiring.

Wait a minute? You're telling me that I can get rid of my factory battery cables and replace them with 1/0 gauge cables... I thought about that, but when I read your thread about switching those cables and your voltage kept dropping that has me worried I don't want to end up in the sitution where its useless to try to get rid of them.

Much easier to just leave the existing wires instead of replacing... Just add on

The reason my voltage dropped was becuase the ring terminal didnt sit properly on the alternator stud so the connection was non-existant.

Aside from that my system can pound and my light will never dim. This is with AC, highbeams, TV's, Trunk TV, Carpc and everything else. off ONE optima. I disconnected the second battery for test purposes.

Battery had a constant voltage of 12.01 with everything blasting...

I wouldnt recommend doing that often then. Thats a pretty drastic voltage drop from the running voltage it should be at with the car just running. Almost 2.5volts... Anyways that doesnt sound like that could be a good thing on the battery doing that too often, But then again Optimas rock as far as having lots of power. Never had any problems with mine, but I also dont have as much electrical nonsense as you haha
