Car alarm

I'm looking to buy a pager alarm. Which brand do you think is highly recommended and approximately how much will it cost me? I'm located in Toronto/Scarborough. Thanks guyz.

The two best selling products in the market are:

Viper Responder

And the CompuSTAR

If you need to ask someone questions, go to the shop I work at in Scarborough, it's on Nantucket Blvd. that runs along Kennedy rd. just north of Lawrence Ave. East, the address is 180 Nantucket Blvd. and the shop is Called Safe & Sound Installations they sell both pager systems and more. Speak to Moe and tell him that Ahmed sent you and you're from Toyota Nation, he'll take care of you...

The Viper 790XV is a pretty nice unit. However, if you don't want the remote start option, wait for the 690XV, soon to be released. DEI also has a GPS-guided system similar to CompuSTAR coming out soon, but expect about $800 USD. You can even track the car online via real time, find out how fast the car had been driven, etc. The 4-pack relay coil for the remote start will be reduced to a solid state, smaller package; much easier to install and hide.

There's one disadvantage that the Viper has compared to the CompuSTAR. The starter on the Viper is made for Automatic cars only, so in order to install it on a Manual transmission car you have to buy an extra module...

If you go to Safe & Sound Intallations I'm sure they'll give you all the information you need..

Installing a remote start in a manual transmission vehicle can be very dangerous, thus, not too many companies support it. A friend of mine, who used to be a shop manager, actually had been pinned by a car that had the remote start installed. The owner decided he would be tricky and add a toggle switch to disable/enable. Unfortunately that day, the switch was enabled. Had my friend not been 250-lb 6'3" big, he probably wouldn't be walking today. But as always, do the homework, ask around for a reputable shop, don't let it be a hack job.
