Unhappy New Chick with Questions

Ok so I just bought in May a 90 GTS and I'm just putting on the road and I noticed that my speakers are very low when I play the CD Player as a matter of fact, how about the left is so low it mine as well be dead. Does anyone know what could be the problem or have experienced this????? The radio is very low and clear

Re: Having problems with my speakers

oh and the damn fog lights don't work. there is no power coming through them and i have no clue where to start checking the wires to find the short..

other than that is a beautiful car. 78k, fully loaded, all leather... need a paint job and i want to put somer new rims on it and change the pedels and find some seat covers that will work. i was originally going to girlie it up, but i changed my mind

Is it all the speakers?

Your CD player's internal amp could be dead as well, meaning you would have to change out the thing. CD decks are pretty cheap these days, try crutchfield.com to get a better idea of what you want.

On the flipside, it could be your stock speakers..those paper woofers don't last forever...you can get an average set of speakers from Pioneer or Kenwood for like $50 US pretty much anywhere.

I'm sure you'll get lotsa hits on this thread...chicks on here get all the attention.

Ah yes, and now you shall be preyed upon by the evil womanizing pimp......................ME!

Nah, just kidding. Wow, not bad mileage at all considering the age of the car. Got pics of it? Love to see 'em. As for your fog lights, I'm no expert electrician, but see if you can trace the wires that run from the fog lights all the way to the switch. Perhaps one of them may be cut, or perhaps there's not a good ground? Or heck, maybe the bulbs in them are just bad and need replacing. Oh, and don't worry, you're not the only one with bad speakers. Heck, I still have the stock tape player and speakers in my '91 Camry, and none of 'em even work now!

for the fog lights, you should check the bulbs, fuse, switch and follow the wires around to make sure they didn't get disconnected/chopped

oh and the fog lights aren't supposed to be on when the headlights are on, just in case you're checking with everything going

OMG! another 90 GTS!!!!! they're popping up every where!

Welcome to TN, go post on M/M/M plz~~~w/ pix ofcourse car pix i mean

those are not Foglights, those are your DRL (Daytime Running Light) so if it doesn't work during the night time, turn off your head lights, it'll turn on... once you turn the head light back on,, they'll turn off.....

if it doesn't turn on at all, take a look at your bulbs...maybe dead, if not its the wiring harness.....

i hope you're talking about 1990 Corolla GTS

tHANKS FOR ALL THE LOVE GUYS . I will try to take some pics of the car. I just put it on the road so I haven't done anything to it yet, that and i had to learning how to drive stick.

As for the speakers, I read somewhere on another site that the Celica's have a problem with the amp for the CD speakers. I want to add some more speakers, but looks like I'll have to wait now. The problem is only on the drivers side as far the fact they are very low, but overall the CD plays much lower than the radio. Which is because I'm a serious loud music, fast driving chick... I live in NYC what do you expect

As for the fog lights, I didn't check the bulbs, but I did check the fuses and the wire behind the light DEAD. I was suppose to have someone come fix it for me but since we had the blackout and he's protecting the public and whatnot he hasn't had a chance to come and look at it....HELLO my car is way more important than his jobxavior, I'm the one pimpin'

Anyways, I'm posting at work...so I'll check back during the day because I don't plan on doing anymore work today.

Looking forward to chatting with you guys and where are all the LADIES Did ya'll scare them away

When you said a 90 GTS I think most of us assumed you had a 1990 Corolla GTS, cause there's the Celica GTS and the Corolla GTS so saying a 90 GTS was kind of unclear..

For your speakers, age does worsen the quality of sound, older cars did have low volume decks anyways, and your deck's output isn't probably loud at all.. So check your speakers and I would definetly recommend you buy new speakers and a new deck if you care about sound..

The lights could be blown bulbs, bad wiring, fuse, or just cut wire somewhere! You should take it to an electrician to check it for you... But check the bulbs first so you can minimize your damage...

And welcome to the board...
