Infinity Reference speakers are great and won't break your budget but I don't think they fit into your wattage range. They should sound fine though even though they're powered off the headunit, just can't get too too loud.

Well, factory speakers really never had so much *oomph* to begin with so I imagine any aftermarket speaker will have plenty bass. infinity's, jbl's, anything from the haman corp. is great stuff.

Look for some speakers with good RMS power range. Ideally, running off the HU, you woud like the minimum power to be as low as possible. Don't be too concerned about distorting your speakers if you run it just off the stock headunit. I did that for awhile on my cam, powering some 6.5 JBLs. As long as you don't listen to music insanely loud, you should be fine.

check out www.crutchfield.com for some good deals

Would you buy a 2004 toyota from a salvage lot? No.
They're not OEM original equipment of manufacturer speakers if they sell them at walmart.

Speakers from walmart- Are they Sony's? I bet they're Sony's, or probably Jensens- are probably not very good. Walmart usually doesn't come to mind for audio goodness.
Check out ur circuit city for lower-midpriced stuff or your audophiles guru store for higher-end stuff like eclipse, mb quart.

A decently good range would be like...2 watts-whatever...letsa say...80. 2-80 watts RMS
Since you're only running off your HU, shouldn't be too concerned about the higher value I think. But just in case, later in the future, you decide to add some ampage to your system it'll be nice if your speakers can hold up to more pwr.

some glossary terms

RMS- is amount of power that a speaker can handle under a continual basis.

the maximum watts- is the total amount of power a speaker can handle in an instance. pay no attention to this value when looking for speakers.

Don't you ever frequent the audio forums?
