weird smell?

after playing my subwoofer hard i will notice a weird burning smell... its hard to describe what it smells like... kinda like when a electric motor burns??

anyways i got a 12" pioneer Tsw-306c (svc) which is 400rms and 1000 max...

i am powering it with a kenwood kac729s bridged so its pumping about 150ish w rms and since the amp is rated for 600w its pumping 600w max to the sub (most likely less).... i did go to the sub to push it to see if the voice coil is fucked, it isnt but... the cone was fairly warm...

anyone know what this problem could be ?

How did you go about tuning your system? Did you set your gains correctly? Do you notice any distortion when your playing your system hard?
