2000 Corolla mp3 player hardwire help

I have a 2000 Corolla with stock stereo headunit(has cassette) with a stock Toyota single disc CD player mounted at the bottom of the center console.

Would it be possible to splice into the CD player speaker wires with an 1/8" stereo adapter for my mp3 player and keep the CD player for use at other times?

I don't think the headunit has an additional AUX input.

no.....speaker wire are outputs (signal goes from radio OUT to the speakers)

for an mp3 player you must INPUT the song from the mp3 player to the radio then to the speakers....

if your stock radio has no inputs (i.e. stock cd changer or aux port etc.) then you cant hook it up unless you put an aftermarket radio in with the necessary hookups....

yota83's reply was wrong anyway; you can absolutely splice in to the CD player wiring, which is in fact an input to the head unit.

In order to play MP3s you'd need to have a "silent CD" in the player, I believe.

The instructions I gave were for mp3 play back using a CASSETTE Player not a CD/Player.As I said previously,mp3 play-back is a matter of simply splicing into the 3 pick-up wires & using an empty cassette as a switch.A toyota CD/Player is an entirely different project, you must splice into the pick-up between the pick-up head and the IC Before the pre-amp,(this involves removing the CD-carrier to access the circuit board)this is NOT an easy task,& should not be attempted unless you are confident that you can do it:Even when you have done this, you still have to tell the unit to play,a silent CD Disc will NOT work, neither will a blank CD or data disc, the player will eject them after loading,(you can fool the cd into loading by inserting ANYTHING into the cd slot)but it still will not play.to acheive a playback you have to go back to the circuit board and install by-passes to the motors that control loading and play-back.or the existing switches in the carrier. From past experience I find that all this work not worth the effort. My alternative is to build a stereo amp and play-back via the car's speakers.I've built an amp using two TDA 2003 ICs,the sound quality is exellent, and it does not need a pre-amp.Any one needing diagram for this amplifier, just ask.in the mean time I've uploaded the full pdf(56mb)of the Toyota cd/radio,you will see what you are up against GOOD LUCK TERRY. Sorry can't find the attatchment link.please help.
