Australia Subwoofer Install in SR5 Dual Cab

Has anyone ever had a subwoofer installation on a Hilux SR5 Dual Cab?

If so, could you please let me know what you used and where the sub/s were fitted?

I think the only two fitting options are either behind the rear seat or under the rear seat and i guess a slimline sub is the only option too. Really appreciate anyones feedback.

Thanks in advance
Karlos

i had a slim 12" sub behind my seat in my reg. cab and it worked good....also had 2 speakers in doors and 2 in the kick panel area on a 4 channel amp...it sounded pretty good for a little reg. cab.

my guess would be a 8" or a slim 12" sub would probably fit under or behind the rear seat.....

8" Slimline Sub's

Thanks for the info.

I think I will install two Earthquake SWS-8 8" Slimline Subs or Pioneer TS-SW841D 8" Slimline Subs under the rear seat connected to an Alpine PDX-4150 4CH amp. I just can't decide between the Earthquake single voice coil or the Pioneer dual cone, if anyone has a recomendation, please let me know.

Earthquake weblink: http://www.earthquakesound.com/sws.htm

Pioneer weblink: http://www.pioneer.com.au/products/c...nge/index.html

Alpine weblink: http://www.alpine.com.au/products/pr...sp?modelID=263

Karlos.

I personally prefer pioneer but either one will work on that amp just make sure you set your gains appropriately. If you need box ideas this should help with dimensions. http://www.supercrewsound.com/shop/cat/93.htm

Thanks for the info, im going to measure the area behind the seat to see if it the twin hole rear seat enclosure on the website you gave me will fit in my truck which is the Australian version of the Tacoma. I hope it is the same as i really like the idea of a professional enclosure over making a custom enclosure.

I am going to connect my front speakers to the Alpine 4150 on CH 1 & 2 @ 4ohm. The rear speakers i am going to connect directly to the head unit.

I will then use CH 3 & 4 to connect to two subs but i have been told to wire these as 2ohm.

To wire these as 2ohm, would you wire them in series or parallel?

PDX amps produce the same amount of power into both 2ohm and 4ohm so just hook each sub to its own channel and your good to go.

just make sure you set your lp filter on channels 3 and 4 and your hp filter on channels 1 and 2 so you seperate your lows and highs to the correct speakers....

good luck with the install!
