little help please

ok so i just got my system put in my tacoma.. running a set of ED 11kv's and a jl 500/1.... kenwood 7019 HU.... premier 720's up front and 601's in back.... my problem is i'm getting some distortion on the higher freq.s on the subs... what am i missing to get those dialed back w/o loosing all the low freq. is it just a matter of lowering the x-over on the HU?? or should i be changing settings on the amp??

the LP (low pass) filter on the amp should have settings from 50hrz up....set the dial to about 80hrz and your subs will only hit the notes 80hrz and lower...

and some amps have a switch to turn the LP filter to HP filter so make sure it is on LP....

Use whichever crossover has the steepest slope. The deck and amp my both have a 12 db slope but it should be listed in the owner's manual for each. Sounds like the sub crossover is set way too high. I have 11KV.2's and I'm running my crossover at 70 hz with a 12db/octave slope. They sound great and are very accurate.

Not sure I understand what you mean by " distortion on the higher freq.s on the subs". Can you describe that a bit more?

well after several days of sitting around playing with it i think i found a happy medium... it deff rocks!!!! haha... only prob so far is i already blew out the rear speakers.... hehe... may have added a lil to much power for em! anyways... the problem was a combination of double crossovers (setting the HU and amp) and also the gain. once i turned off the hu crossover it helped tremendously!!!! only thing now is i think im gonna get the remote bass boost.... i have it set for most of the music i listen to (rock, r&b) but when i throw in some rap it dosnt hit enough for it.. figure if i get the remote for it i can turn up the boost when i want it..
