my amp was working and took it out to put it in the new car and been sitting their for 1 month and now i dont know if its the amp or the installation. what could possibly be wrong with it? its in a 98 avalon and i havent scrape the paint off where i mounted the ground, could this be the problem? it also blinks and then shuts off when i turn the HU on
I'd say it blinks because it carried enough of a load for the led to come on but as soon as it draws current the ground isn't good enough to handle it....clean up the ground and it should work.
You heard the man. I have a love hate relationship with electronics

take your remote off and connect your PWR cable and your GND. Then take a little wire and connect it from the PWR to the Remote. Check to see if it turns on, it should turn on right when you connet the jumper wire from the pwr to the remote. If iut works than you might have a prob with your remote wire. And dont use this as a solution because your amp will stay on constanty unless you take the constant 12v away fro mthe remote. i hope i make sense. If this doesnt work im not sure, try hooking the amp up to a buddys car
What's the location of the ground?
What's the current draw on the amp?
The location of the ground is also important. Be sure to have plenty of metal to be grounded at. I had a case where a customer grounded their MTX 8001 amp to the thin sheet metal that is hidden behind the passenger seats - the amp fried itself. If it's a 'big' (powerful) amp, ground it at your seatbelt anchors. Unbolt the seatbelt buckle and attach your ground there.
got it to work, their is something wrong with the remote wire on the HU, because i have it plugged into the fuse box by the drivers side door, it turns off and on with the key turned to on, so it works perfectly now, what could be causing the remote wire on the HU to not work properly?
