has anybody installed a PAC SWI-X?

im looking for someone who has installed this or similar.. for those of you who are unfamiliar, its a unit that will allow use of the stock steering wheel controls. i have a kenwood excelon ddx 8017 and ive gone without steering wheel controls for 6 months now and its getting tiring. i loved using the steering wheel controls so i i had free use of my right hand.

basically i want to know:
a. how hard was the install. ive looked online and it seems all u gotta do is wire up 3 wires
b. is there any way of using the steering wheel control wire from the aftermarket HU(if applicable)
c. where did you mount the IR?

thanks!

edit: i did some hw and found that the SWI-JACK is the proper one for me.. so has anyone had any experience installing any type of steering wheel control interface?

I just did an SWI-PS in my 08 Tacoma. The PS is for Pioneer and Sony decks. If you go to Pac's website, they have specific instructions for your vehicle that are pretty well written. On mine, there were three wires but one had to have a resistor installed. You also need to make sure you find the correct steering wheel wire. All in all, the install took me about 40 minutes including programming. Good luck.

thanks for the input. i forgot to update this thread saying i purchased a SWI-JACK and its on its way right now
clarkgrizwald helped me out telling me about his install and yes, it seems with toyota's, all the install is is a switched 12v, ground and one wire with a 150ohm resistor in series to the steering wheel control wire.

I tried to install one of these in my 08 Tacoma with Pioneer AVIC-D3, and this part confused me so much I said to hell with it. There were two different types of resistors with the kit, and neither was labelled. Plus, I didn't know if they were supposed to be shrinkwrapped or what. Wish they offered a plug and play, or better instructions.
