Question memory amp wire?

i just got a new audiobahn amp to put in my camry but i cant seem to find which wire is the remote/memory wire. ive seen the chart and went through the searches and all that but i still cant seem to find the correct wire. i did find a white wire that turns the amp on when the ignition is on but it gives feedback when the radio is off and the gain is turned up almost half way. i am trying to put this into a 98 camry LE with factory installed tape/cd player with 6 speaker setup. any help with this would be appreciated.

Sounds like he may have hooked it up to the power antenna wire? I think the remote turn on wire is blue with a white stripe? I'm sure it's blue.

hmmm.....but why would it give feedback then? strange....maybe the wiring's wacked and the signal wires are run down the car along with the power wire that doesnt' have enough shielding?

well i couldnt find a blue wire with a white stripe...just a solid blue one.....ill play around with the wires some more...some of the wires im told to look for i just dont see the color combos or when i do connect it it does nothing...another solution i guess is to hook it to the ignition wire itself but i was trying to avoid all that...i know nothing of ignition systems.

ok i found 3 total wires that even remotely do anything with the amplifier. solid red wire turns amp on but amp sends no signals to speaker. solid white one turns amp on totally but gives feedback when radio is off and gain on amp at half way . solid black one right next to the white one does the same. i did find a solid white wire with a blue stripe (that does nothing) but no blue with white. this seems to be the only wire with a stripe. all others are solid.

use the power antenna wire!!!! definitely...

you DO NOT want to hook up a power wire with high current (Amps). the amp remote wire is a low current 12 Volt source which only switches a relay for the high current power... the power antenna wire works, its been done millions of times not only in camrys... i did it on my girl's old cavalier, and her new 2001 celica gts...

the power antenna wire is perfect for this, because it is just what the amp is looking for... a low current 12V source.

why do they keep moving posts which are model specific into the audio forum!!!!! i hate this!!! people need specific information on their model!!! stop moving threads even though they have SOMETHING to do with audip, they still are more about the specific model!

HMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM

HMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM

I think the whole problem is taht ur tring to hook it up to ur Stock tape/cd player. remeber stock wont have a remote wire only Aftermarket HU's.

but if for watever the reason u wanna use stock then i suggest buying a relay or a on/off switch to turn ur amp on.

BTW i have a 98 le and i had it hooked up to my stock hu too, but i used a relay. so if u need more help shoot me a IM or Email or PM. but now i got a ALpine HU so now i use the remote turn on..

hope this helped.

He has a Gen4, with the antenna leads in the rear window, so there is NO, repeat, NO power antenna wire in the harness, unlike the Gen3.

First off, since you have the premium system, it's the OEM amp that powers the headunit!! That red wire you found should be the turn-on to the factory amp. The white wire is the radio accessory. The black is the power lead from the amp to the radio. Not sure what that white/blue wire is.

Thus, the red wire should be tapped in, and most likely, you will need to wire up a relay to trigger the remote turn-on on the Audiobahn amp.

well all this info is helping me to get a better understanding of the camry radio wireing system....thanx. i would buy an aftermarket radio and end all this madness if it werent for "window shoppers", so i guess ill just have to go the relay route. and also luc is right....my ant. is in my rear window.
