help with subs..

Ok..I have my subs and everything but when I play them...my back 6x9 speakers play some bass...and when I get to a certain volume my back speakers no longer sound good but the subs come through perfect..so I hear the 6x9 sucking and somewhat my subs working perfectly..so Is there a way to have my subs do all the bass? I looked a bit and couldn't do anything. =/

Are you running your rear speakers off of an aftermarket HU or an amp? If so, you can set the high pass filter (HPF).

im going to assume you are running your stock speakers off of your JVU headunit and a separate amp for your sub. what is happening is that your JVC unit cannot supply enough power compared to your sub. when you turn it up loud, the stock speakers cannot handle the power(what little power the HU gives out anyway) and begins to distort. the bass from the sub is probably making them distory even more. you may ask why the rears distort and not the fronts? i see u have a 96 cam which has 6.5" rounds up front. the 6x9's are of an oval shape which causes it to distort quicker due to different stresses on the speaker.

solution you ask? either a.turn down your bass so as to make it even with the stock speakers or b. get aftermarket speakers, preferably a front component set (and ditch the rears) and amp it. that will solve your problems and it will sound 100x better

All my speakers are aftermarket in my car...it just seems to distort at louder volumes. but lower my subs come through loudly.

well, even with aftermarket speakers, i bet its a combination of the bass distorting the 6x9's, lack of power and turning it up too much. since u already have aftermarket speakers, see if u can pick up a decent 4ch amp that is rated around 50-70w RMS per channel. that will make a world of a difference

like above you arent giving them enough power most likely so either give them a new amp or turn up ur sub amp so that you can turn the volume control less but still get the same sub level
