Need basic help

I have done so much searching and can't find a darn thing.

I have a 02 Tacoma Ext Cab. Stock everything.

I want to put a new Head unit it...already have. I have 5 1/4 component speakers that i was thinking about putting in the front. Can anyone direct me to a site on how to remove the stock headunit...Will 5 1/4 components sound good in the front or do the stock speakers sound better? They are Rainbow CS230 Contour speakers. As far as the rear speakers...is it possible to put 6x9s in without modifying anything? I also have an amp. Where do i mount that. I was just thinking under the seat or is there a better place? Any information would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Hmmm...I'm trying to figure out which question to answer first. The Crutchfield site will show you (or give you recommendations) on removing the original head unit. Especially if you buy a new one from them... There are only two basic ways a head unit is "locked" into the dash, but I really can't explain them, other than they are both simple and you can buy the removal tools at any stereo shop or even Wal-mart.

As for 5 1/4 components...I used Infinity Kappa 5 1/4 components in my last Toyota pickup and they were amazing....BUT, here is the big question, what are you planning on using to run them? The new head unit or the amp...and if you're installing an amp, are you planning on adding a subwoofer or two?

My favorite setup for a single cab pickup is a set of components, and one 8" sub with a high quality 4 channel amp (usually running about 45 watts per channel...) two channels running the components and two channels wired down to 2 ohms for the sub...

Oh, and you can mount the amp anywhere it'll fit...but I'd go with the passenger side seat (it tends to be moved less...)

thanks...i have a headunit already, but i figure its just as simple as kind of popping the stock deck out, im assuming...and im glad to hear about the 5 1/4s....i thought they would sound just fine. I have a amp dedicated for the components and thought about mounting it under the passenger seat. How do i go about fastening it so it doesn't slide around. I dont think i really want to drill into anything...any recommendations?

Thanks
