Sub & Amp Install

Hi. I'm new here so take it easy. What is the easiest way to add a sub&amp to the factory 2005 radio w/6-disc changer? System is with 6-speakers non jbl. I dont want to change the radio yet but I already have 12" sub and mono amp that I would like to add just to fill out the sound. Basically what is the remote turn on wire and how to get rca cable from radio to amp? Sorry for sounding noobish.

Unless your amp has "hi level input" you will need to ad a line output converter to tap into the speaker wires and the RCA's will go from there to the amp. Also, most factory headunits do not have a remote turn on wire so the easiest way is to get a line out converter that also has signal sensing remote turn on capabilities. Don't forget you will have to run a power wire directly from the battery as well.

use a line out put converter. hook up a switch so that would be the remote wire. dont worry about sounding noob-ish. everyone was in that stage once.

Mr Marv pretty much summed up your answer, but as a newcomer to car audio I highly recommend looking at the stickies at the top of the forum. The bace site is unreal. Has soooo much information it can almost be over whelming. Not there we arent here to help, but that will give you a huge head start.

A PAC OEM-2 converter might be make your install easier.

Install manual:

I used one to install an aftermarket amp and sub into my 96 Ford Explorer. Made it quite easy. It was nice that it converted the factory 5V turn on into a 12V, with turn-on delay. I found mine, brand new on eBay, for dirt cheap.
