Advice on JVC decks

Guys, I've been looking around for a deck for a while now, and since i'm not an audiophile, I don't need a top of the line deck. My biggest criteria are cost, plays cds, and must be a black phantom face.

I've settled on getting either the JVC KD-LX111 or KD-LX300. Both decks are discontinued models, so i'm gonna be getting them pretty cheap.

Anyone here have any major problems with their JVC decks and why I shouldn't get them?

I'm not gonna be getting a sub, and I'm not even gonna change me speakers unless i crack them so scaleability isn't a problem. The only thing I might add later is a CD changer which i know the deck supports.

Any help would be appreciated because I found the KD-LX111 for $199 cdn which is pretty cheap but 2001 audio only has 3 left since it's last years model. I'm hoping that i can talk it down to $189 or $179 tho...

I have the kd-sh77 which the motorized face one w/o mp3 (not a big fan:p ) and I absolutely love it....

paid thru the nose for it almost 2 years ago, but no regrets and no problems, good sound, looks good, etc etc....

almost the best I could get without getting all the fancy graphics and stuff back in the day....

I'm sorry to tell you guys this but JVC decks are notourious for having display problems (ex. half of the screen doesn't light up or the whole screen goes off and comes on... etc.)

And that's from experience

Well, now with most companies offering 3 year warranties I guess it is covered but do you want to go through the hassle of not having a deck for a month or two?

Go Kenwood... except it doesn't have the black screen hide thing... but any one who would really want to steal your stereo would know what that is anyway.

Kenwoods are great, Eclipse decks are a bit too much, and Clarions are expensive but great decks..

Stay away from Sony whatever you do..

Eh... Clarion isn't that expensive... My Clarion cost about $50 more than a Kenwood with slightly more feature (4v preouts instead of 1.8). A similar Alpine would be about $100 more than the Clarion. The Kenwood was $200, and the Clarion $250.

Thanks for the input. I really did consider going to another brand because of what you guys said, but in the end, I still went with JVC. Eye8Pussy, you don't have to feel so alone now. hahaha

I bought the top of the line Sony Deck last year ($600 CA) it started skipping allot at first (I thought it was my stiff ride) but now it's not even reading any of my CD's (original or burnt) and it seems like they have a reputation for bad lenses and giving errors
