Okay, I've been trying to figure this out, is there any cheap, easy way to either remove, or disable my V.I.P. alarm system permanently, without just blindly going in and cutting wires? Any information would be greatly appreciated.
The best way is always to remove everything completely, so you won't have to worry about something not working if the wires were cut, which I do not recommend.
Okay, so if I were to remove everything, what components are there to remove? The last time I tried to remove the system, the only boxes that I found was the main box which was located behind the black panel for the power mirrors, and the window break sensor box which was behind the driver's side kicker panel. Are there any more things that I would need to remove? If you could, please give me some kind of procedure to follow. Thanks.
Does anyone know almost exactly where all of the parts of the actual factory security system are located within the car? What's the best way to remove all of these components? Thanks.
Hmm...I didn't think the '99 had an immobilizer system, only '01-current, but my DEI sources seem to indicate otherwise. The Toyota diagrams I have only show what you have found, doesn't really indicate the wire bundle. If you have the VIP 3000, then you don't have the immobilizer, only the 3200 does, which is available on XLE trim.
I'm not really sure whether or not I have the immobilizer system on mine or not, I know that when I disconnected the main box (behind dimmer switch and power mirror panel) that the ignition would come on, but would not start, but that might have been because I didn't disconnect the whole thing. But how can you tell which model of the VIP you have installed? Is it on the main box somewhere or something, or can you tell by the VIN number, or the little sticker on the glass that says Vehicle Intrusion Protection? Thanks.
I just noticed that you have a LE, thus, you have the VIP3000, not the 3200. That's the problem for not removing all the wiring, your starter connection is severed. You should be able to remove all the wiring and reconnect up the car as if it had not come with an alarm without cutting any wires. Thus, you will have to trace and remove all the wire bundle to/from those units.
