It depends on your HU. It just tells the HU to dim the lights when you turn the lights on.

Look for an illumination wire on your HU. If there isn't one, just cover it with some heatshrink.

No idea about the pink wire. Is it supposed to be grounded or get +12V or something else?

My guess is that it just tells the HU when the parking brake is (dis)engaged. It is unlawful to have a video playing visible to the driver when the vehicle is in motion.

the parking brake one is suppose to be hooked up to the hand brake so if you want to watch a movie the brake has to be on. The brake grounds the wire.

The pink wire will have to be hooked up to the parking brake or to a switched ground. The Phase Linear unit (if it's the same one that Circuit City sells) requires that you do a e-brake sequence in order to watch video.

i just installed a kenwood audio head unit (no dvd or video) into my 08 corolla the other day. for my unit at least, it didn't need the orange wire so I just electrical taped it up. keep it there just in case you switch HUs again in the future, saves you the hassle of buying another harness if the next HU requires it.

hook the pink wire to the wire that the instructions tell where it should go,

On most alpine headunit the pink wire is for illumination, and on my kewood in dash the the pink wire is for nothing and i ground a light green wire which is suppose to be wire to the parking brake, i did that so i can watch dvd while driving, but ima remove it since i got a warning from a traffic stop which he didnt give me a tickert because he can't find the code for the ticket, I got a break.
