You can install anything yourself...lol. Just depends on how handy your are. I'd imagine that installing a DVD player only involves 3-4 connections. Constant Power, ACC, ground, and a video out connection to a monitor. You probably don't need the Constant Power connection since the DVD player doesn't really need to retain settings like a headunit. I could be wrong though.

Do you have a monitor already? What is the model number of the DVD player? Have you been to Kenwood's site to see if you can find installation directions?

thanks for your input man, i haven't looked into any of those things yet, my girlfriend just bought me the kenwood dvd for x-mas and i've been busy working and just havent got the time to into anything yet, but the paper said it should be "professionally installed" so i was just curious because since she bought it online theres probably not a warranty, but thanks again pranksta

All car audio should be professionally installed but that doesn't mean that we have to have it done that way. lol. If you are not confident in your install abilities, then go to a professional but I'm a DIYer when it comes to most car electronics. Mainly because I'm cheap and also like to mess with stuff and learn in the process. It's pretty fun stuff to me.

DVD receivers install the same as CD Receivers don't they?

You just replace the old head unit with the new DVD head unit?

If so, you'd need a wiring harness and should be a simple install. Which model of Kenwood did you buy?

You're also supposed to hook up the parking brake wire.

He doesn't really say whether it is a DVD headunit or just a DVD player. There is a difference. A stand-alone DVD player will need a monitor. I went on that assumption since he didn't go into more detail.
