installing amp without removing headunit?

Hi I have a 2007 Camry XLE that came with a navigation unit in the front. I am installing a sound system (JL Audio 12W7 with a JL Audio 1000/1 amp). I dont wish to take the navigation out to install the RCA or remote wires because im afraid when they put it back in it will be loose or rattle or something. Someone was telling me I can do something with my back speakers wires and hook that up into the amp to make it work. Do any of you know how this procedure works, if its worth it, or if will interfere with anything...i'm assuming the car comes with a factory amp since it has a JBL system in it. So do you suggest taking the navi out or doing this method.

Also, if I decide to just take the navi out to install the wires when put in will it be loose or anything or look like it was taken out.

You can tap in to the rear speaker wires with something like this:

Then plug your RCA cables into it.

PAC makes other high-low converters also. I have used the SNI-35 in a past install. It is a pretty basic unit, but offers level adjustment. I used a OEM-2 in an install in my Ford Explorer. It was nice since it converted the Ford OEM 5V remote into a 12V, with a delay to avoid turn-on thumps.

If you use the line out convert and tap your 12v accessory for amp turn on somewhere else you won't have to remove the stereo. That is, if you're doing it for an amp and sub. If you're trying to amp your front speakers, you pretty much have to remove the unit.
