Gen6 Gen6 Camry Speaker Templates

I've just started re-changing my car speakers, formerly with RF Punch 3-ways. I'm now going towards a DIY approach using a combination of Dayton RS150's, ND28's, and a RSS265 for a sub. No pictures yet, but seeing as I could find any printable templates to use to make the speaker brackets, I made my own. I just wanted to share for the time being while I get the rest of my system installed.

http://www.electricallyerasable.com/...07_tweeter.pdf
http://www.electricallyerasable.com/...ry07_front.pdf
http://www.electricallyerasable.com/...mry07_rear.pdf

I think they work with the gen5 Camry's and Tacoma's too.

As a side note does anyone here have an experience putting together crossovers? I've read up on it, but assistance with construction would be of great help. I think I'll be doing a 3rd order Butterworth at 2500Hz.

Thanks for the post. Unfortunately, the site you reference appears to be down. Any chance you could post those directly here, or use another site that's working?

I could really use those templates, as I have just discovered that the "pro" installer who put the Bostons in the front of my 2000 Camry did a horrendous job, and I need to make new brackets to fix the problem.

Thanks either way

Philippe

Thanks for sharing that with everybody!

Will this template fit a Gen 4 (2000) Camry well?

I need to install some door speakers in mine.

Thanks.

Philippe

The Generation 6 are similar however not quite the same as the Generation 5 and Tacomas unfortunately.

Toyota likes to change the design with every generation so these will not fit your Gen 4

anyone have template for 200 Camry door speaker brackets?

Hey thanks Mr. Marv. You're somewhat famous around here. :-)

This of course begs the question, does anyone else have a template for a gen. 4 or Year 2000 bracket for Camry door speakers?

Thanks in advance.

Philippe

These templates will definitely not work in your Gen 4. Gen 4 has 6.5" speakers in front. You don't need adapters really. Get some 6.5" or 6.75" speaker and you can mount them directly to the car. You just need to drill 4 holes for the screws.

For the tweeter, I just metal tape with holes. That tape is usually use to hang pipes or secure water heaters to the wall and such.

Maybe according to some spec sheet, but all I can tell you is that in my car, the holes in my doors will not proper mounting of my particular Boston 6.5s .

My Boston RC620s 6.5s do not fit properly in the pre-existing holes. There is also not enough metal around the periphery of the mounting hole for the Bostons to screw into the surrounding metal with more than two screws. Worse yet, those two screws have to be on one side of the driver in order for them to fit. I discovered this after the local so-called "expert installation shop" messed up the job. Hence my reasons for creating the baffles.

Odd...

I had a Gen 4.5 (2000) Camry and I managed to put a 6.75" component set in the front doors without baffles. The speakers fit in the hole and the metal lip was sufficient in size that I was able to drill 4 holes and mount the speaker to the door. I did not use the pre-existing screw holes.

so I take it by the look of these templates....

1. Just get a thin sheet of metal

2. Cut out the templates

3. Cut the holes out of the center of the template to make the speaker fit

4. Mount speakers

Am I wrong?

Thanks for the replies in advance.

Usually people use MDF, but metal should work also.

These templates will help a lot of people but if you're going to the trouble of building crossovers, why not go with active crossovers instead?

I guess maybe if stay with the stock HU, you may want to build them, but you could get a DSP to do the same thing.

If somebody with a generation 6 Camry will send me one of their original speakers as well as a couple of pictures of the door with the speaker removed I will make them a set of custom baffles for free.

I finally found the time to mount the speakers (its been a while!) I used 1/4" MDF for the tweeters at first but it came out too tall to fit the cover back on, I ended up using a blank copper/fiberglass circuit board instead. Here are some pics:
