Roadwire in 08 Camry

Hey all,

Just got my 08 Camry SE off the showroom. It has the Roadwire system installed in it. First of all, very nice system...I love it and love the stock look of it.

However I have noticed a few problems that I wanted to see if others knew before I had the dealer address them:

1) iPod video function doesnt appear to work with an iPod "Classic" 80GB
2) Buttons on the right side of the steering wheel (voice command, phone answer) do not work. I thought the system integrated with the existing controls...
3) No radio reception (most likely a unplugged antenna)

Anyone else saw this? Also I have to disable the parking brake safety wire so videos can play for my son while we drive...but that should be easy.

What is Roadwire? Toyota only offers JBL and navi upgrades to the sound system.

Roadwire is the aftermarket option on the car that was installed as a dealer option. It is an all in one DVD, iPod, Camera, etc interface.

Sounds like simple problems. Go to ROADWIRE.COM and post a message to customer service. I found all my Camry stuff at there website and they gave me the name of local installers. Said they have over 2500 nationwide.

The Camry's have a JBL system (not in all) and also a powered (amplified ant.) if it your unit was not installed properly, you may loose reception. These might be the cause

The units were made to support Ipod units, however as new Ipod come out, they may support them.. Kinda like any new product.

The buttons are disabled becasue it is a factory repacement system. The dealership has a steering wheel plug (replaces those switches with a blank). Your unit is a touch screen, it does not need steering wheel switches...

I have a Roadwire Unit in my Camry and it works great. I also have one of their Camry Limited Edition Leather Interiors packages that came with a two tone steering wheel, wood dash, and the nicest leather suede interiro I have ever seen.

Hope this helps.

roadwire is coming as an option from the dealer now?

oh and because a unit is touch screen doesn't necessarily negate the use of steering wheel controls. I would still prefer steering wheel controls touch screen or not.

If anyone is wondering, Signature (aka valor media aka roadwire) is being sold at Crutchfield with and w/o nav.
