Avalon Sirius FM Modulator

Just had a big box electronic store install a Starmate 4 in my 2003 Avalon w/
the JBL sound system. They used a FM modulator and the Sirius is fine but I can barely get normal AM/FM. They now claim I need a Auxiliary Input Adapter because the "Avalon probably has an amplified antenna that will not work with the modulator". I am not sure if they are accurate or maybe installed it wrong to begin with. Help!

Have you tried just turning the Sirius off when trying to listen to normal AM/FM? Should fix your problem.

Avalon Sirius FM Modulator

Unfortunately turning off Sirius does not help. I even undocked it to be sure. The AM/FM signal just seems weak - rather than noise comning in from an external source. Any other ideas or background on the Auxiliary Input Adapter? Thanks.

The FM mod goes inline with your antenna so it's possibly they plugged the FM mod into the back of your stereo but didn't plug the antenna into the FM mod (or it came loose and fell out). I'd just take it back to where you got it installed and have them check for it.

The other thing it may possibly be is sometimes Toyotas have 2 antenna. One is a regular antenna plug, the other is a glass mount antenna that has a smaller plug. That glass mount isn't used with aftermarket stereos.
