Lo-jack or No Lo-jack

Hi, I am a new member here. I just bought my firest Toyota and I love it to death. I bought a Matrix and Im already looking for tuning stuff to add to it.

When I was at the dealership they asked me if I wanted to buy the lo jack system to put in my car, for 900 bucks i figured it better do more than just sit in my car. So I said I wanted to think more about it over the weekend. After reading about it and talking to some freinds, I decided not to buy it. A friend of mine suggested buying a GPS alarm system for my car. I couldnt be happier with it. Not only does it do everything that Lo-jack can do, but it also open my doors and roll down my windows and a bunch of other stuff all from my cell phone. I looked into the Viper system and they wanted way to much for there GPS alarm, the company that me and my friend bought from was www.gpsnationwide.com . They were awesome! I just figured that i would add my 2 cents worth about it.

i ordered it for $599 and I have to pay something like 17 bucks a month. They have a ton of other plans but this one lets me use my cell phone free. it only took about an hour to install which was good. And now im thinking of buying a remote start for it so i can start my car with my cell.

I've always wondered what happens when/if these vendors go out of business. Will you just be stuck with a big 'ol useless box in your trunk?

Here in Canada (Toronto) Baka is used by large corperations and the likelyhood of them going under is prolly slim.

10 yrs huh? I guess I'm concerned because the mkt here for GPS isn't as mature and established. I'm still turned off by the monthly fee though. We pay enough for insurance as it is. Besides, I'm not sure if I'd really want my car back after it was stolen. Wouldn't feel teh same

BTW-welcome to TN
