audio newb

i've been interested in audio for awhile... and recently acquired my friends system (2 12" jl w3's, power teknique amp, and box) i'm taking it to a shop to get installed...and to curb the costs a little i'm buying my own wiring, fuse, etc..

what i need to know is...what exactly is needed to connect the amp to the head unit (i have an aftermarket one)...what gauge wires, what type of wires, fuse?

i have the wires to connect from sub box to amp but just from amp to everything else...

Off the top of my head:

You need RCAs to connect the headunit to the amp. If you don't have RCA outs on the back of your deck you'll need a high level output converter, you'll only need a 2 channel one for subs.

From the amps to subs you're going to want some thicker gauge speaker wire, not sure what gauge that is, but thicker than you'd use for regular speakers. But maybe you don't need that since the W3s don't handle too much power?

You're going to want 4 gauge power wire for the amp. Not sure on the fuse size... lemme think... 600/12=50. 45 or 50 should do? Not sure what sizes they make. Make sure to get some butt connectors (not sure if you need one for the amp) but you'll need it for the wire that goes to the battery and the one that grounds on the car's chassis.

Anything I forgot? I really should remember this stuff as it is my job.
